The truck at the curb isn't always the company you paid.
Who shows up — the mover you chose, or whoever had a truck free?
Two ways to book this move: through a broker, or straight with a mover. Both are legal.
But picture pickup morning. A truck pulls up with a name you don't recognize. The man with the clipboard doesn't work for the company on your email; you're seeing and hearing him for the first time. You call the number you booked with. It's a sales office. And you can't send them away: the apartment has to be empty tonight, the elevator is yours until noon, and this truck is the only one coming today.
“A moving broker is not a mover,” says the federal regulator. Brokers are “sales teams that book your move and sell it to an actual moving company.” Which company? Not one you picked: whichever has a truck free that week. To a sales team, one truck is as good as another. It isn't their sofa.

Once it's sold, the broker is done: you're booked, its deposit is in, your order is passed along. Not one of your boxes has moved. The broker makes money on your move. So does the mover. You pay both — and you chose only one of them: the one that won't be there.
Here, you pick your mover yourself, with your eyes open. A broker can sell your move. We're not allowed to: USDOT 2820253 — licensed to carry household goods; to broker them, no. We don't hire subcontractors, either. The company you pay is the company that shows up — by law, not by promise.
Broker or mover?
One company. Yours.
If something goes wrong, there's nobody to pass it to. The number you call is ours: a family business since 2015, with an office at each end of this road — Waltham and Brooklyn. About 20 trucks, crews on our payroll, BBB A+. One name on this page, on the side of the truck, on the reviews — and on the Binding Estimate you'll sign before we load. We move for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Boston, too.
No middleman — so the price below pays one company, not two. The one whose truck is at your curb.
We move 3,500+families each year.
